Seongsu 025S Tea House — Where Tea Meets Storytelling

Seongsu 025S Tea House — where tea and storytelling meet in a beautifully designed space.

Last time I visited Nudake Tea House in Seongsu, and this time, I found myself stepping into a completely different kind of tea house — Seongsu 025S Tea House (also known as Tea Thology Seongsu), a new gem in the neighbourhood.

Small, intimate and very book-ahead — seats fill fast.

This place is small, with limited seating, and trust me, booking in advance is a must. I actually tried to reserve a spot last time, but by the time I got around to booking, Seongsu was fully booked, and the only available seating was at Bukchon!

A calm white facade in busy Seongsu — the quiet begins at the door.

But I wasn’t ready to give up, so I tried again, and this time, I was lucky enough to get a reservation. Seongsu 025S is located in a brand-new building and is said to have one of the most beautiful interiors. Naturally, I wanted to experience it for myself, so I made sure to book in advance.

The Art of Tea & Storytelling

Tea ceremony set at Seongsu 025S — teaware and steam in soft light
Each course pairs tea and story — quiet, precise, deeply calming.

What makes 025S special is that it’s not just a tea house — it’s a space of stories. Each course pairs tea and dessert with a narrative, transforming every sip into a small, poetic experience. I couldn’t wait to discover what story would unfold during the tea ceremony.

My friend, who has recently fallen deep into the world of tea, joined me. She’s been diving deep into the world of tea recently and is fascinated by the stories and ritual behind each cup. The moment we stepped into Seongsu 025S, her eyes lit up — she was instantly captivated by the calm, almost cinematic atmosphere. The air felt slower, softer, like the world outside had paused.

A Journey Through Time and Space

We arrived right on time, but I’d recommend getting there 15 minutes early — it’s a great way to soak in the calm before the experience. Before heading upstairs to the tea room, we explored the 3rd-floor fragrance corner, where 025S perfumes are displayed. Testing each delicate scent in the white-on-white space felt like part of the ritual — a prelude to the tea journey ahead.

The architecture itself is breathtaking — a spiral structure that invites contemplation. Everything is white, minimal, and precise; light seeps through like time slowed down. The building’s spiral structure made me feel as though I was walking through a space of contemplation and quiet beauty. It was an incredibly mysterious and almost surreal experience. Outside, Seongsu hums with noise and neon; inside, it’s stillness embodied.

Tea and Dessert: A Perfect Match

Five teas, three desserts — flavours mapped to a storyline.

As the time came, our host led us to the upstairs tea room, where we were introduced to our five teas paired with three desserts. The quiet elegance of the space and the gentle voice of the tea master, who explained each tea’s story, made the experience feel like a dream. Each tea had a unique flavor profile and was paired with desserts that complemented the tea perfectly.

The storytelling behind each tea was what truly made the experience memorable. It wasn’t just about drinking tea — it was about experiencing it. As we sipped and listened, the gentle rhythm of the tea master’s voice and the taste of the tea transported me to another world.

“Dream Journey” Tea Ceremony

Seongsu 025S tasting course — tea and dessert pairing on a long board
The courses unfold like chapters — tea and dessert as plot and counterpoint.

The experience begins with the first course, titled “The Dream Journey (꿈의 여정)”. Our guide explained that this journey mirrors the moment between reality and dreams — that first hesitant yet excited step into another world.

The first tea, called Between 0 and 1 — Spring Rain, was a blend of fresh green tea and clear magnolia. It tasted like cool rain touching new leaves — light, refreshing, and quietly bright. It was paired with three small sweets: pine-nut candy, preserved lemon, and chestnut gangjeong. The flavours balanced the tea perfectly, gentle yet alive.

I won’t spoil the rest of the courses — part of the joy lies in discovering them yourself. Let’s just say that each cup deepened the dream, and by the fifth tea, I felt as if I’d travelled through seasons, memories, and moods — all without leaving my seat.

The tea master spoke softly, her voice like part of the ceremony itself. Between sips, my friend and I whispered our own stories, sometimes laughing, sometimes just listening to the sound of rain outside. It was slow, immersive, and beautifully human.

    1. If you’re in Seongsu around lunchtime, I really recommend Seongsu Darak. It’s a cosy fusion spot tucked away on the second floor with a bright, warm atmosphere — perfect if you want to enjoy some sunshine while you eat. The food is beautifully presented and feels homemade but modern. Try to go a little earlier or later than the usual rush hour since it can get busy around noon.
